Bunias orientalis is a biennial or perennial hemicryptophyte most likely native to the Armenian highlands in the southern Caucasus. Typically, the species predominantly invades disturbed habitats and thus, occurs in urban areas, along roads and railways, and grasslands. It usually forms dense stands only in early succession phases after disturbances.
